New distribution method

In the coming updates i will be using a newer method of distributing my applications, it is becoming clear that for a single file application there is no gain to distributing in a dmg over a simple archive.

The bad sides of a DMG distribution:

  • Can take more space up
  • Takes valuable development time to create and debug the DMG
  • Takes more time to unpack on the client side
  • Are normally still distributed in a archive anyway
  • etc.

However to make sure people still get my licence and agree before using my applications i have hard coded them into the applications instead, i have also added a function to check if its not running in the Applications folder where it will then offer to copy it to the Applications folder and launch from there.

I hope this doesn’t disrupt anyone, as i know its not Apples way but their methods come from before archives were natively supported in OSX.
