Mac Developer Program Donation Request
- Previous: InsomniaX 2.0.1 Release
- Next: InsomniaX 2.1.0 Released
In preparation to Mac OS X Mountain Lion and the up coming Gate Keeper features, I was hoping that the avid InsomniaX users might be able to pool together and help raise $99AUD to sponsor my access to the Mac Developer Program.
I know many people have donated money and other items over the years of my projects, and these have greatly been appreciated and have helped motivate me to continue developing and updating the projects.
I am keen to relaunch some of my older projects onto the Mac App Store, whilst some of these may turn into paid applications they will help sponsor the development of InsomniaX.
InsomniaX will continue to remain freeware for all to use for a couple of reasons, the first is the Mac App Store terms will not allow for applications that are not sand boxed and well InsomniaX uses a kernel extension… so doubt it will ever be allowed, another compelling reason is if I charge for InsomniaX then I may legally be liable for any consequences of using the software (People ignoring the many many warnings)
However back to the point of this post, please remember donations keep me motivated to update the projects and I really want to publish some of the older projects to the Mac App Store to help sponsor InsomniaX
Update: I have received $20 out of the $99 required for a Mac Developer subscription, please guys help out and remember my access to the program will help ensure InsomniaX works in Mountain Lion when its released!
Update 2: Thanks to AdamAdam the target has been reached and InsomniaX will be supported in Mountain Lion, but please remember that donations are what keeps these projects alive and updated
Please do not use the blog as a support desk, requests for support on the blog are not supported, please use the help desk
avid user. no qualms about helping out. cheers from the states.
Thank you so much AW, hopefully some more people donate
I’m currently investigating the hotkey support again I swear its the most requested feature!
I installed InsomniaX (perhaps legacy and latest) on my MacBookPro running 10.6.8. Since then, after a certain period of time (with lid opena nd working on laptop), the trackpad will start being manipulated on it’s own. It will move my cursor, right click, etc all on it’s own, making it impossible to use my laptop. I deleted InsomniaX, did the terminal delete command but this still happens. It only happens on the account in which I installed InsomniaX. Would appreciate your help on this, please.
p.s. I’d use the “helpdesk” mentioned above but I couldn’t find it.
Gary, go get’em — you’re funded with a little extra now. Next we need to get your an Air.
Can you please setup RSS for your updates here, or special email disti for those that donate? I’d love to be better informed rather than checking the site every month or so. Thx!
Adam, ask and you shall receive
Will the new version have the enable/disable on battery feature?
Does anyone have experiences with InsomniaX on Mountain Lion? Does not work for me
/mac sleeps as usual; was fine with Lion/
Hey, I really miss InsomniaX on OS X 10.8, so could you please post a status update?
I think 2.0.1 works with Mountain Lion. I uninstalled and reinstalled after upgrading on my mid-2011 MBA and so far lid functionality is back!
YMMV
I have it running fine on Mountain Lion, however it doesn’t seem to want to remember the state it’s supposed to run in after reboot. I’m wondering if I should uninstall/install again?
I’m having inconsistencies actually. It doesn’t remember the state for me on ML either. The icon changes when it forgets (so that’s in sync). If I close the lid and go across the house, then open it up. She’s still on, but immediately goes to sleep upon lid open. so signals are getting crossed somewhere/somehow. Mid-2011 MBA with ML.
Any news on InsomniaX development for Mountain Lion?
2.1.1 does work but as AdamAdam said there are a few inconsistencies and setting aren’t saved on a reboot.
Happy to donate some dosh if it will help speed up the process as I use it daily!
thanks
Jon
