MultiAlarm 3.0.0 Ready

24. Apr 2006 Comments 32 comments

After the demand for a MacBookPro version and the demand for version 3 i have ditched the support for AMSTracker as it does not support the MacBookPro and im also removing the keychain support until we can work on the bugs which are currently holding it back.

I have replaced the keychain with activation of screensaver, if you want to have a password to stop someone from disarming the alarm after it has been set off, just enable a password to disable the screen saver this is available under “Security” prefence pane.

The voice alert was removed to keep the cpu and ram from being wasted from other important tasks, it may make a return in the next version along with a better password support.

Hi I downloaded the multialarm zip file, but in it only contains hirespb, powerbook and mbp, there is no iBook version

  2. Dan wrote on 25. Apr 2006

Could you please provide the updated source code for downloading?

  3. semaja2 wrote on 25. Apr 2006

the powerbook one is actually the ibook one, sorry about the name changes i thought i updated the read me anyway.

i will upload the new source code soon, but be ware its very very messy and has beta code lying in there and youll find the beta features hiding :P

  4. semaja2 wrote on 25. Apr 2006

The source has been uploaded and is available but if you use it you must include source code if you make your own version, but if you have a way of improving it just email me.

As mentioned on Versiontracker, the alarm does not sound when the lid is closed before the laptop is moved (on my HiResPB). It sounds when the computer is woken up from sleep again, though, if the laptop was moved in few seconds the system needs the write the RAM to disk.

One solution is sound the alarm also when the lid is closed, or more generally when the computer is put to sleep, without disarming it first.

  6. semaja2 wrote on 26. Apr 2006

The idea of making the alarm still sound when the lid closed has been on the today list for a long tim but i dont know how to code it, so if you know how to code it tell me please

I have a Powerbook G4 (purchased around apr 2005). Multialarm 3.0 does not work on it. I do have sms on my laptop. ( I did “pmset -g” and it returned “sms 1″). I have tried both the ibook and hires versions. The older versions dont work either. Any suggestions ?

  8. semaja2 wrote on 26. Apr 2006

Srinivas please leave a support ticket and dont use the comments for support,

If you have a SMS supported laptop please try other programs as well, such as the level widget

Srinivas, What you described means that your SMS in your powerbook has problems.

This is great! i can’t wait for the next version, I would prefer a screen flash than screensaver… preferences perhaps? Great job… thank you… Is there a Salling Clicker Script for this?

  11. semaja2 wrote on 02. May 2006

well if i get time to add more features ill add the screen flashes back in, also ill try to write up some salling clicker scripts for the newest versions

When the alarm is going off on my MacBook Pro I can simply press mute to stop it and the volume level is very low. Could the volume be set to full and mute/volume change disabled?

  13. Chris wrote on 03. May 2006

What’s the license? If it’s GPL I might be interested in helping out.

  14. semaja2 wrote on 03. May 2006

the licence is GPL and free for anyone but if someone makes a spin off version they must include the source code.

but if you know applescript or cocoa and want to help out just email me and we can see what needs doing :

Jeffery: as for the mute button, it is on the todo list but i just dont have the knowledge nor time to work out how to make it possible, but when the alarm is set off it will set the volume to 100% so it should loud enough if it isnt you could play around inside the program and replace the mp3 files with your own

  15. Chris wrote on 03. May 2006

semaja2: I’ll take a look at the source code sometime and see what I can come up with.

What it really needs is Quicksilver hooks for enable disable…

  16. semaja2 wrote on 03. May 2006

well i dont know anything about coding for quicksilver although it could be kinda cool

What are the requirements for this application, I have and ibook from a year and half ago, do you know if it even has the motion detection hardware. Previous version of this application haven’t worked on my computer.

  18. semaja2 wrote on 04. May 2006

i dont reallhy have a way of detecting the SMS but id say if it hasnt worked before it probally wont work again.

  20. Joe wrote on 13. May 2006

Boy this is really a rip of iAlertU and a bad one at that.

  21. semaja2 wrote on 13. May 2006

Joe: thanks for very stupid and useless post, MultiAlarm was never ment to be of the same quality as iAlertU it was designed to support the old apple laptops like ibooks and powerbooks,

it was also designed to be free and open source

  22. Tom wrote on 29. May 2006

Will this work on the new MacBooks Not MacBook Pro

  23. semaja2 wrote on 29. May 2006

The only way for me to know if it works on the MacBook is for you to test it and try the mbp engine

  24. Graham wrote on 17. Nov 2006

just a question, is it compatible wuth the MacBook (non-pro)?
